The 180th winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 12th September 1956 over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Cambremer, a chestnut colt by Chamossaire out of Tomorrow, owned by Mr Ralph Strassburger. A field of 13 runners contested the race which was worth £19,000. (Equivalent to £457,900 in 2017)
